Small, ihe is angry for an unfortunate candy. She refuses to return a toy.
Caprice child: the explanation

First, it is important to know the scientific explanation of the child’s whim. Neuroscience research has shown that the part of the brain called the ?temporal and frontal lobes of the neocortex? (as you wish!) Which allows us to regulate our emotions, is not yet developed in infants *. During the first 5 years of a child’s life, this part of the brain will be formed, to mature in adolescence. We can tell them to stop their childish whim, to calm down, to reason with each other, that will not have much results. Not because our children don’t want to listen to us, but because their brain does not yet allow them to reason with each other !

Then what often makes us say that our child “has a whim” is that we consider the object of his frustration unimportant. It is then that we forget that our child is above all .. a child ? And thathe does not have the same centers of concern as us. Just like other adults do not always have the same centers of concern as us. For our man, a tidy living room is extremely important, for our wife she wants us to finish our plate, and our child, he wants to finish the game he started, before going to the table. What if we accept that everyone does not have the same concerns?

And at the same time, we can help our child to take a step back from the situation, and to express himself other than by rolling on the floor. Here’s how.

Faced with a child’s whim, help them become aware of their emotion

The 1st step so that our child can better express his emotions (avoiding hitting the neighbor), is that he becomes aware of what he is feeling. Why ? Because it is by taking this first step to become aware of the unpleasant emotions that pass through us that we will be able to step back and react less impulsively. And cis of course also true for us adults. For example, you can be angry with a colleague, talk to him with a touch of aggression, without being really sure that you understand the reason. And then if we ask ourselves, think about it, we can perceive that we are angry with it, because we find it, for example, too intrusive, or because we did not like it. one of his thoughts.

It is besides this method that the mistress of my daughter adopted in front of the “whim of child” of one of her comrades.. Result: immediate return to calm. Here is the anecdote.

(For information, if you want to explore more avenues and ideas to better manage your little one’s anger, I have made a complete file on the subject: the ?ANTI-ANGER PACK: The ultimate file to manage? whims ?and other crises! “.
Story of a child’s whim “like the others”

A dad was about to read a story to 5 classmates, including his daughter, before going to work. The little girl snatched the book from her father’s hands, and wouldn’t give it back. The father obviously scolded his daughter, and tried to reason with her: “The book is for everyone, you give it back.” Otherwise I don’t read a story ?. Emotional storm, her little daughter burst into tears! Then she hugged the book even tighter. “Nooo!” “. The teacher intervened: “I don’t think it’s the book Juliette doesn’t want to lend, but her daddy she doesn’t want to share.” You wish your daddy read a story just to you, right? “. She had seen it right. Juliette instantly calmed down. She felt understood.

If, when Juliette ripped off the book, her daddy had verbalized her daughter’s emotions, without judgment (“You don’t want me to read a story to everyone, you would rather I read one for yourself? , is that it? ?), she would no doubt have been more attentive. It was only then that we could have guided it towards a search for a solution of the type: “How do we do it ?!” There are plenty of children in the classroom and we are not going to put up a barrier so as not to let them pass ?. If I read you a story in class, we can’t stop the others from coming and listening to it. So either we’re not reading a story, and I’ll read one to you tonight, or I’ll read one to you now, and too bad if there are others listening. And I’ll read you a second one tonight just for you? What do you prefer? “. And Juliette would probably have chosen the option of continuing reading. You will have noticed, moreover, that we arrive at the same conclusion in both cases: “If you take the book, I won’t read you a story”. Corn in one, we go into opposition, in judgment, we consider the reaction of our child as “unacceptable”. In the other, we understand what he is feeling, so we help him to understand his reaction, a priori irrational,. And in the end, we manage to reason with it and continue the story!

You will tell me: it takes time! It’s certain. However, if we do the math, it is often quicker to take the time to try to understand what our child is feeling and to express to him, than to deal with a drama that then escapes us.

Show that we understand and verbalize

Understanding our child, welcoming his emotions and putting words into words can help us avoid many ?whims?!

One morning, my daughter picked up a small drawing that one of her comrades had given to the teacher. She didn’t want to give it back. Faced with the normally pressing wait for the other mother, who wanted to hang the famous drawing on the wall before leaving, I tried to reason with my daughter, without success. Running out of ideas (and patience), I end up using force: “Well, I’m going to have to take it out of your hands, it’s a shame.” Of course, it ended in drama … A poorly expressed emotion, which is awkwardly called “childish whim”.

Afterwards, I didn’t blame myself for not having a more docile daughter, but rather for forgetting to be empathetic! The goal is not to feel guilty, but simply to take a step back from our automatic reactions, and see the possibilities of doing differently the next few times.

?I understand you want to keep it. You too would have liked to give a drawing to the teacher. That’s it ? “. Guaranteed pressure drop! She would have understood this jealousy that she felt, of which she was perhaps not even aware, and she would have felt understood! And so I could have found an alternative: “You know, it’s very nice of you to want to please your mistress too.” If you want, tonight, we’ll make him a super nice drawing and you can give him tomorrow! We won’t forget, okay? “. And she probably would have let us take back the piece of paper. And I would have really “won”.

Using the force, I only fueled his inner anger. By using understanding, I first increase my chances of achieving my ends (that she returns the drawing). And the next time, instead of taking over the drawing, she might think of expressing her frustration or sadness …

Because, yes, learning to listen to what is happening in us, then to express it to others, it is a learning path that requires help and models. By developing the ability to put words on it, she can more easily calm down. “Mom, I too would like to draw a drawing for the teacher!” “. And this prevents emotion from being expressed through inappropriate behavior.

Why can’t we easily adopt this attitude in the face of our children’s ?whims??

Of course, it is not easy to apply! In our hectic life, we are often in a hurry. We find it hard to take the time to say the 3 sentences that could have saved us. We seldom have our minds open and attentive enough in the present moment to seek to understand our child, rather than focusing on the next step.

So the interest also in doing work on yourself to be more in the present moment, to take breaks so that when we are with our child, we are 100%.

Finally, despite all this, it is not always easy to understand our child. Maybe in childhood, no one taught us to be empathetic (that is, to know how to detect the emotions of others). We learn a lot by imitation (see the article ” Here is the best way to influence the behavior of our children ?) And the people around us at the time were not necessarily with us.

All the more reason to change our way of reacting, and not to repeat the same scenario with our children. Let’s try to understand it more than to criticize it. This is how he will learn to understand himself and to understand others. So while we won’t change years of automatisms with a wave of a magic wand, there is clearly room for improvement! It takes wanting and taking action by simply training. Moreover, thee Cool Boost, supports you all year round to move from theory to practice, and put all of this good advice into practice?
If ASVEL returned to defeat this Thursday, Monaco has found a smile again in the Euroleague! Clearly dominated by Olympiacos on the previous day, Zvezdan Mitrovic’s players did not miss the meeting against Bayern Munich on their floor at the Salle Gaston-Médecin. During the 40 minutes, the ?Roca Team? never let go of the reins on the scoreboard against the Bavarians caught up in speed by the three-point precision of Léo Westermann (13 points). Will Thomas (13 points) then joined the effort of the French international leader to allow the club of the Principality to count up to eleven lengths in advance in this only first quarter. THEhe Bavarians, led by Othello Hunter (14 points) sent a little thrill to the Monegasque hall by immediately returning to five lengths but the ASM was able to curb this backfire in Munich. The start of the second quarter saw the gap oscillate between seven and thirteen points but Dwayne Bacon (16 points) was then out of his box to allow Monaco to regain their ease and return permanently above ten points. ‘advance. It is even with a margin of twelve lengths that the Monegasques have found their locker room.

Monaco did not let Bayern Munich return

Back on the floor, Bayern Munich resisted. Vladimir Lucic’s teammates (15 points) were able to tighten the game at the defensive level to block Monaco to just 17 points during the ten minutes of the third quarter. At the same time, Andrea Trinchieri’s players have found some solutions in attack. Efforts which were however insufficient to allow the German club to reduce the gap on the Monegasques, who approached the last ten minutes of the meeting with the same advantage of twelve points. A last quarter which saw the “Roca Team” let go of the horses on both sides of the field. Leaving Bayern Munich only four points in almost seven minutes, teammates Danilo Andjusic (16 points) and Donta Hall (7 points, 8 rebounds) multiplied the offensive waves to reach the 20 point lead. A limit below which the players of Zvezdan Mitrovic fell only twice before flying away definitively to the score. Monaco signs its fifth victory in nine games with 23 points ahead (94-71) to climb to eighth place in the standings and prolongs the doubt of a Bayern Munich team beaten for the second time in a row.

(Pocket-lint) – Hey there Upper East Siders, Gossip Girl here. If you thought I was leaving you to go on with your life, you were wrong. It’s been maybe nine years since I stopped unraveling the outrageous lives of Serena Van der Woodson, Blair Waldorf and their friends, but I’m back, and this time I have the powers of social media to help me.

Yes, it’s true. A reboot of Gossip Girl is here, following on from the original show, but a decade later, with a new set of privileged New York City teens to play with.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Gossip Girl 2021 revival, including how to watch it, what’s expected of the show, and how to catch up on the original series. You know I missed you, XOXO.

Gossip Girl reboot release date: when is it available?

After a first delay due to the global pandemic, production of the Gossip Girl remake started at the end of 2020.

The Gossip Girl reboot was released on July 8, 2021 in the United States. It was then released in the UK on August 25, 2021.

How and where to watch the reboot of Gossip Girl?

The Gossip Girl reboot is available exclusively on the HBO Max streaming platform in the USA. You can also watch it on The CW – the platform that originally aired the original Gossip Girl – as well as The CW’s online platforms.

In the UK, Sky has a programming deal with the platform for HBO Originals, but the BBC has scooped the Gossip Girl reboot. It aired on BBC on August 25, 2021 and all episodes before the mid-season break are available on BBC iPlayer.

 squirrel_widget_4718242

How many episodes are there of the Gossip Girl reboot?

The Gossip Girl reboot launched on the HBO Max platform with 10 episodes of one hour each. There is a mid-season break so only the first six are currently available in the UK.

The original show ran for six seasons and there were a total of 121 episodes. At the moment, it’s unclear what the future will be beyond the reboot’s original 10 episodes, but we suspect the idea is that it will continue for more than one season.

What should happen when Gossip Girl reboots?

The original cast of Gossip Girl does not reappear – except in mentions and photos – but the revival of Gossip Girl is a continuation of the original with Kristen Bell once again telling Gossip Girl, as she does in the original.

Of course, a lot has changed over the decade since blogging Gossip Girl took a little hiatus, including the rise of social media, which naturally would have made her job a lot easier. This is reflected in the reboot with an anonymous Instagram account taking the blog’s place. The biggest difference with the reboot is that you know who Gossip Girl is – a bunch of Constance teachers trying to take back control.

the Gossip Girl official twitter account – which is very active and therefore worth watching – has confirmed a number of the cast and the characters they play (more on those below) ahead of its launch, and it has also confirmed that the characters will go to Constance Billard and St Judes Private Schools again, while also offering a preview of new sets and uniforms.

The new cast was also portrayed on Classic Dating Stages, where plenty of drama happened for the original cast of Gossip Girl, and there were a number of teasers as well. Since the show’s release, Twitter and Instagram accounts have been posting updates, as well as extras on the cast.

Deadline reported that the position of the new Gossip Girl series is as follows: “Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of private school teens in New York City are being introduced to social surveillance of Gossip Girl.” The prestige series will address how social media – and the New York City landscape itself – has changed in the meantime. “

Co-creator Josh Schwartz, a stated about reboot in July 2019 : ?We felt that a version with just our cast grew, regardless of the challenges of getting these actors, didn’t feel like a group of adults controlled by ‘gossip girl’. made a lot of sense. We felt there was something interesting that we were all gossip girl in our own way and how it evolved and transformed and mutated and telling that story through a new generation of Upper East Side high school students. felt good. “

Meanwhile, Gossip Girl showrunner and original writer Joshua Safran, who is also working on the reboot with Schwartz, has told the Hollywood Reporter : “It’s just a new look at this particular society in New York, the idea being that society is constantly changing. So how has the world changed, how has social media and its effects changed? All of these things allow us to look at the world 12 years later instead of just making history again. “

Is there a trailer for the Gossip Girl reboot?

Oh yes. You can watch the official trailer released by HBO Max below.

Introduction: Minutes 0 to 1h30
We’ll have another episode next week and we’ll be off for two weeks for Thanksgiving. We will be back on December 4th. You can listen below!

Politics: 1:30 to 6:30 minutes
We have a Republican governor this week in Virginia. Glenn Youngkin defeated Democrat Terry McAuliffe, who was our governor from 2014 to 2018. Chandra was not surprised that Youngkin won as he reminded her of Bob McDonnell, our last Republican governor. We also have a Republican Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General, and Republicans have taken control of the Virginia House of Delegates. Democrats still have a slim majority in our state Senate. Racism appears to be the main platform Republicans are running on right now.

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik: Minutes from 6.30 am to 11.30 am
This week we learned of an altercation at Gigi Hadid’s home in Pennsylvania between her mother, Yolanda Hadid, and her boyfriend and baby dad, Zayn Malik, while Zayn was at home with their one-year-old daughter, Khai. . Gigi was in Paris for Fashion Week at the time, but when she heard about it, she canceled the appearances and returned immediately. Apparently Gigi was on the phone with Zayn or Yolanda when the situation arose.

We first heard about it after a source told TMZ that Zayn “hit” Yolanda. Zayn responded with a statement denying hitting Yolanda and claiming that she entered their house while Gigi was away. After that, we learned that he had not challenged four criminal charges of harassment. He got almost a year of probation and is scheduled to take an anger management course and a domestic violence program.

We wonder why people accuse Yolanda of this when Zayn was the one who was charged. Zayn was pulled from his record label and sources said he smoked “strong” marijuana. I’m playing a segment of Zoom where we talked about it.

Royals: Minutes from 11:30 am to midnight
Prince William and Duchess Kate were at the climate summit in Glasgow last weekend. It was reported ahead of time that they would be doing five events. Kate hosted two events with William, a Boy Scout event and an evening reception, and William hosted another event after that. Chandra says the royal calculations add up if you count each of their events separately.

Camila Tominey, who is generally very pro-Cambridge, wrote an article in the Telegraph saying the Cambridges should forgo flying in private if they are serious about climate change. Additionally, Tominey pointed out that Kate left on Monday evening and that Will and Kate traveled separately. We wonder if Kate left the summit earlier than expected. We still don’t know where they went on vacation or if they went together. Plus, they didn’t have any hyped tracks afterwards like after Bond’s premiere.

Prince Andrew has filed a legal response to Virginia Giuffre’s trial in New York. His lawyers only returned it on the day it was due. He smeared Giuffre and pretended she was there for the money. Chandra explains that it took over a decade for Giuffre to even take possession of the FBI photo where she was posing with Andrew. The trial is scheduled for September next year and it is believed that Andrew’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, could sit for depositions. It would be a disaster for the monarchy if the trial went this far. We think Andrew should settle down.

Prince Harry has two events planned for next week, the Intrepid Valor Awards in New York on Wednesday, November 10, and a Wired Summit on Online Disinformation on Tuesday 9. Duchess Meghan is a guest speaker for the NY Times DealBook Summit, which will take place on November 9 and 10. We hope they both come to New York for that but we don’t know yet!

We also learned today that Duchess Meghan has called on some Republican senators to advocate for the removal of the paid family leave section in the infrastructure bill. She was able to obtain the private numbers of Republican senators, including Shelley Capito of West Virginia and Susan Collins of Maine. New York Senator Kristen Gillibrand admitted to giving Meghan the phone numbers and said she had told some senators in advance to let them know that Meghan would call them.

Commentary of the week: Minutes from 24:00 to 28:00
My comments for the week are from Katherine and Katie on Aaron Rodgers’ post getting covid after lying to the press that he was “immune.”

Chandra’s comment of the week is from Chaine on the post about Brad Pitt being depressed because he continues to lose in court.

Thanks for listening to bitches!

One possible way to counter those negative effects ? talking while watching the screen.

The more parents engaged in conversation with preschoolers during shared TV time, the more likely those children were to have higher curiosity levels when they reached kindergarten, a new study suggests. This was particularly true for children with socioeconomic disadvantages.

?Our findings reinforce the importance of parent conversation to promote early childhood development and curiosity, especially for children from under-resourced families,? said lead author Prachi Shah, M.D. M.S., a developmental and behavioral pediatrician at University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children?s Hospital.

?We know that more frequent parent-child conversation is promotive of several areas of early child development, and this could be true for promoting a child?s curiosity as well.?

Sitting in front of the TV alone or while parents are on their phones? Perhaps not so beneficial.

But watching a show, movie, or other content with parents while talking together could be associated with fostering a preschoolers? curiosity, Shah said.

Researchers assessed hours of daily television exposure and frequency of parent screen-time conversation among 1,500 preschoolers, and then measured early childhood curiosity in kindergarten. The findings appear in PLOS ONE.

The study specifically focused on curiosity levels, which Shah?s previous research has found is associated with enhanced learning and higher academic achievement in reading and math at kindergarten, and behavioral-developmental benefits, especially for children from families with lower socioeconomic status.

?Curiosity is an important foundation for scientific innovation, joy in learning and numerous positive outcomes in childhood,? Shah said. ?We want to better understand what fosters curiosity in early childhood, which could potentially identify ways to help mitigate the achievement gap associated with poverty.?

?Parent-child conversation facilitates children?s thinking, learning and exploration ? all behavioral indicators of curiosity,? she added.

Researchers analyzed data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Birth Cohort. The cohort is a nationally representative, population-based study sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education that has followed thousands of children since birth in 2001.

Curiosity was measured through parent questionnaires asking about characteristics of curiosity, such as eagerness to learn new things, a drive for novelty, an openness to new experiences, imagination, and adaptability to new situations among other behaviors.

While many young children are now growing up with digital media exposure through mobile devices like tablets and phones, televisions remain a dominant screen activity, accounting for 72% of all screen time. TVs are in 98% of all homes, keeping television exposure a relevant developmental context in young children,? Shah said.

Children are reportedly exposed to an average of one to four hours of television per day, with higher exposure in children who are economically disadvantaged.

Excessive media exposure, including television, can displace exploratory activities such as play and parent-child interactions, which are believed to be key to cultivating curiosity in kids, Shah said.

?Our findings suggest the importance of parents finding opportunities to foster conversational exchanges in daily routines with their young children ? including while watching television,? Shah said.

Chemical engineering assistant professor Huanan Zhang has developed a process that turns clothing fabric into biosensors which measure a muscle?s electrical activity as it is worn.

His new technology was recently detailed in a paper published in the science journal, APL Materials. The paper, ?Gold and silver nanocomposite-based biostable and biocompatible electronic textile for wearable electromyographic biosensors,? was co-authored by University of Utah chemical engineering graduate student, Taehwan Lim, and Sohee Lee from the Department of Clothing and Textiles at Gyeongsang National University in South Korea. You can read a copy of the paper here.

Zhang and his team have devised a method of taking ordinary textile made of a cotton/polyester blend and turning the fabric into sensors that measure electrical impulses generated from muscle movement. This could become a much better solution in measuring muscle activity for physical rehabilitation or for other medical applications. Ordinarily, current bioelectrical sensor technology in which they tape sensors with wires to the skin can sometimes be ineffective, uncomfortable, expensive, and costly to manufacture.

?This new method can enable clinicians to collect a muscle?s long-term electrical signals with more precision,? says Zhang. ?And we can get a better understanding of a patient?s progress and therefore their therapeutic outcomes over time.?

When human muscle contracts, it emits electrical signals in the form of ions (as opposed to electrons from an electrically powered device). Zhang?s process involves depositing a microscopic layer of silver over a piece of fabric to make the material conductive and therefore receive the electrical signal from the muscle.

But having just a layer of silver is a problem since the metal can be somewhat toxic when in prolonged contact with the skin. So the researchers also deposit a second microscopic layer of gold, which is non-toxic to the touch. The gold not only protects the skin from the silver, but it also enhances the electrical signal, Zhang says.

?The silver layer provides a baseline conductivity, but the gold on top improves the signal and the biocompatibility, and it helps reduces the cost of manufacturing pure gold devices,? he says.

The silver layer is applied to the fabric in a process similar to screen printing a graphic onto a T-shirt, and it?s applied to just the areas of the clothing that touch the muscle being measured. Then the gold layer is deposited by an electrochemical method. The patches of sensors are then attached to wires and a portable electromyography (EMG) device that measures muscle contractions.

Just as important, the process is also resistant to repeated cycles in a washing machine, Zhang says. His team ran a piece of clothing treated with the process through 15 washes, and they didn?t affect the sensors? efficacy.

Currently, Zhang and his team have tested the method on a compression sleeve for the forearm. While this technology would mostly be used on compression sleeves or socks since it requires the clothing constantly touch the skin, Zhang imagines it could also be used for other skin-tight clothing such as bicycle pants or athletic tights.

This sensor-equipped clothing is yet another example of the popular trend of wearable technologies that constantly monitor your health throughout the day, such as the Apple Watch. And Zhang even envisions a day when his clothing could interface with a digital watch to provide real-time readings provided EGM monitors become small enough.
