Free and dog-friendly destination
Since our Magyar Vizsla (Hungarian hunting dog) came to us in June 2018, we often go on dog excursions into nature on weekends.
From the around 90 hectares of Westruper Heide – not far from Dortmund and Münster – I had seen beautiful pictures on Instagram and Facebook. I wanted to go there too!

Westruper Heide in Haltern am See
It is the largest dwarf shrub heath in Westphalia. The best time for the heather to bloom is mid to late August. We saw rolling landscapes covered in pink to purple heather.
200 Heidschnucken and ten goats graze here around half of the year. On our second outing, we spotted many of the sheep grazing in a fenced area.
Which parking lot use?
On Saturday afternoon we drove for the first time from Mönchengladbach by car to Westruper Heide. We controlled the free one using Google Maps Westruper Heide car park at Flaesheimer Damm.
On the way there we noticed that there was a lot going on. The day trippers were out and about by car, motorcycle, bicycle (but you are not allowed to go into the heath with them) or on foot.
No wonder, we had a sunny 23 degrees and it was only partly cloudy.
The already mentioned south car park was jam-packed when we arrived at 2:30 p.m. We had to wait a bit before we got a seat. There are several further parking possibilities on the B58.
At sunrise we came back the following Wednesday. Because we found the heather so beautiful that we wanted to experience it early in the morning. At 6.20 a.m. some parking spaces were occupied, but there was still enough free space.
Dogs on a leash are allowed in the nature reserve
The heather is a dog-friendly destination. Because dogs on a leash are welcome on the sandy paths. However, like people, they are allowed to do not leave the path – to protect endangered animal and plant species.
We met a lot of other dog owners on our walk: inside with their four-legged friends. Everyone was friendly so that Buddy could sniff some conspecifics.
It is best to take when it is hot water with. Because there was on Saturday afternoon little shade and the sun was burning. Only a few trees offered protection.
But it was really cold in the morning, we shivered at eight degrees. In addition to our light summer jackets, there is also a Sweater been great.

If there?s one person who?s thrilled that Jennifer Lopez is back with Ben Affleck, it?s former celebrity publicist Rob Shuter.
“I think it?s really exciting,” he told Fox News. “I think those two are so special. [I believed] they would have always been together. It always felt to me that their love never got away. I was with her writing their [initial] breakup statement that went around the world ? I wrote that statement. And when I was writing it, it just felt really sad.”
“Celebrity breakups are usually matter-of-fact, but this one made me sit down for a moment,” he continued. “Before I hit send I just felt this genuine moment of sadness because I felt like these two were meant for each other. I believe they had the right love, but it was the wrong time. There was always something special about them. And I think now is the right moment for them. So I?m really happy that they?re back together.”

The gossip columnist, who worked with Lopez from 2003 until 2004, recently wrote a book titled “The 4 Word Answer: Who Are You in 4 Words?” which explores the many life lessons he learned from working with some of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood.
The actress/singer and the Oscar-winning actor originally began dating in July 2002 and got engaged that November. However, they postponed their September 2003 wedding days before the date and ultimately called off their engagement in 2004. They were first spotted spending time together again in April of this year. They made their red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival in September.
Shuter insisted that Lopez and Affleck?s romance has always been the real deal.

Shuter thinks that this time, the two have a strong chance of lasting as a couple.
“Back when they were together, they were on every cover of every major magazine, week after week,” he said. “But that hasn?t happened now. The public is still interested in Bennifer, but the world?s media has changed in the last decade. People are now consuming the news on the internet. I?m not diminishing their star power, but that same pressure isn?t there. It?s not as high risk. So they can enjoy themselves.”

According to multiple reports, Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49, have been spending as much time together as possible since their respective splits from Alex Rodriguez and Ana de Armas earlier this year.
Shuter predicted that it won?t be long until we hear wedding bells.

The gossip columnist, who worked with Lopez from 2003 until 2004, recently wrote a book titled “The 4 Word Answer: Who Are You in 4 Words?” which explores the many life lessons he learned from working with some of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood.
The actress/singer and the Oscar-winning actor originally began dating in July 2002 and got engaged that November. However, they postponed their September 2003 wedding days before the date and ultimately called off their engagement in 2004. They were first spotted spending time together again in April of this year. They made their red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival in September.
Shuter insisted that Lopez and Affleck?s romance has always been the real deal.

“I don?t think there?s enough energy used [as a publicist] to protect those relationships [in Hollywood] that are legitimate,” he explained. “There?s a lot of celebrities who are in real relationships but the pressures of the job and life come along and ruin it. That?s not unusual for regular people too? And now everyone wants to know all the details, what?s going on in these relationships, what they?re doing in private. I hope now that Jennifer and Ben take some time for themselves.”
Shuter thinks that this time, the two have a strong chance of lasting as a couple.
“Back when they were together, they were on every cover of every major magazine, week after week,” he said. “But that hasn?t happened now. The public is still interested in Bennifer, but the world?s media has changed in the last decade. People are now consuming the news on the internet. GPS III SV05 is the fifth satellite of the third generation of the American GPS navigation system. It was built by Lockheed Martin and was nicknamed “Neil Armstrong”. The third generation satellites are to provide three times greater accuracy and up to eight times greater resistance to signal interference compared to their predecessors. They are also intended to transmit an L-band signal, compatible with other satellite navigation systems such as Galileo, so that users will be able to use several systems simultaneously for greater precision. GPS III SV05 will join the already operational 31 GPS satellites in an orbit 20,200 km above the Earth’s surface. It is designed to work for at least 15 years.
After the GPS III SV05 satellite reaches its target orbit, the military will have 24 satellites that can transmit an encrypted signal known as the M code (ang. M-code). These are enough satellites for the signal to be available worldwide. It allows you to transmit with greater power and noise immunity over specific areas, providing soldiers with more reliable navigation. The navigation payload of the GPS satellites is produced by L3Harris.
The satellite was transported from the Lockheed Martin factory in Colorado to Florida in April and was refueled after passing recent tests. On June 9, the satellite was closed in the Falcon 9 rocket charge covers, and on June 12, the rocket without a load on the top was launched onto the SLC-40 platform and a static test was carried out, during which the Merlin engines in the first stage were started for a few seconds. After a successful test, the rocket returned to the hangar, which also received a cargo-shielded satellite the next day to perform the final integration.
It will be the first ever launch for the US military using the first stage rocket from the Falcon family, during which a fully functional satellite will be launched into orbit, not being an experimental or test payload. Methods of rocket inspection were assessed, and methods for assessing the lifetime of booster elements were established by analyzing the stresses they are subjected to during take-off, return through the atmosphere and landing. Falcon 9’s frequent launches in recent months have made it easier for the military to collect a large amount of data.
Work to certify used rockets has been underway since 2016, and SpaceX and ULA are now able to offer flight-proven missile components as part of the second phase of the NSSL program, which aims to launch US national security payloads. By some estimates, conventional plastic can take hundreds of years to decompose in the ocean, but no one really knows how long it will continue to clutter the seas. One replacement material, PLA, can be manufactured from natural sources, such as corn and potato starch. It can rapidly degrade under specific conditions, such as when composted, and is often used in compostable tableware and cutlery. However, studies of PLA in seawater and in soil found no significant signs of degradation after at least three years. Researchers have developed several approaches for making faster-degrading PLA, but these have drawbacks, such as altering the material?s properties. It turns out that water can easily break apart the biological molecule RNA, thanks to a process called transesterification. So, taking inspiration from this process, Frederik Wurm and colleagues wanted to introduce chemical groups to PLA to make it easier for the polymer to break down in the ocean.
The researchers added breaking points to PLA during its synthesis by incorporating transesterification sites similar to those found in RNA. They created different versions of the modified PLA, containing enough of these sites to account for 3-15% of the polymers. In experiments, they immersed films of the new PLAs in artificial seawater and measured the change in weight of the films, as well as the release of lactic acid, a degradation product of PLA. The polymer with the highest concentration of breaking points, 15%, broke down completely to lactic acid after two weeks. Polymers with lower concentrations took longer, and some could require as much as several years, they calculated. These results showed that the degradation rate can be tailored, depending on the amount of breaking points in the material. The potential applications aren?t limited to PLA, according to the researchers. Adding breaking points may speed the decomposition of other plastic polymers and become a key strategy for preventing further marine pollution, they write.

The heather is a dog-friendly destination. Because dogs on a leash are welcome on the sandy paths. However, like people, they are allowed to do not leave the path – to protect endangered animal and plant species.

We have been to both times around two hours in the heather, we stopped at many photospots at. There were really great motifs! Incidentally, drones are not allowed to be used.
The inland dunes, pines and juniper bushes were very beautiful. At the highest point of the heather we came to the Lookout point with benches. Of the Viewing dune from you have a nice panoramic view.
It was so worth it to get up at 4 a.m. on Wednesday to be on time for the sunrise to be with the heather.
