Hays Finance & Comptabilité, a specialist recruitment firm for Finance and Accountancy Departments and ECE (Institute for Graduates of Expertise Accountancy in Business) has just published a new study ?The DNA of the Chartered Accountant in Business?.

Organizations are constantly facing new changes. Within their departments, the number professionals support them by developing new skills. When we approach this subject, initial training is at the heart of the debates. Hays has been working for 20 years in France in the recruitment market for Chartered Accountants and Auditing firms, and we wanted to highlight, with ECE, the Diplôme d’Expertise Comptable (DEC). This final diploma of the Chartered Accountant course is also held by many professionals working in companies.

With the recognition of the Chartered Accountant in business by the PACTE law, registration on the Roll of the Order of Chartered Accountants has been possible since 2020, which gives these professionals a little more visibility. From now on, any Chartered Accountant graduate, employee of an entity not registered with the Order and who has an authorization from his employer, can apply to be registered with the Order as a Business Chartered Accountant. This registration allows, more generally to the employee in a company, to benefit from a recognition of his Diploma of Chartered Accountancy, from a rapprochement with liberal professionals, to access the various products and services offered by the Order. , in order to update their knowledge and develop their expertise.

This study was carried out from a web survey sent to a base of 1,200 business graduates between the 1is March and May 30, 2021. The results relate to the year 2020 and concern only Chartered Accountant graduates not working in a firm at the date of the survey.

More women from the age of 40

While 58% of respondents are men, women outnumber them from the age of 40. In fact, from this age group, 60% of women with Chartered Accountancy degrees work in companies.

In addition, one in two business graduates is part of a management body. Reporting to the General Management (46%) or to the Finance Department (31%), the Company Accountant is well positioned to play his role of co-pilot of the General Management.

Tenacious and honest experts

The expertise curriculum requires three years of professional practice. Almost two thirds of Chartered Accountants in business have more than six years of experience in a firm? and they are almost as many (62%) to be ready to return! It is the sign of the capacity of adaptation and the faculty of the graduate to seize the opportunities and to reorient themselves. Thanks to the recognized qualities of DEC graduates, namely expertise (79%), tenacity (63%) and integrity (76%), business graduates benefit from the trust capital of the Chartered Accountant. In business, the Chartered Accountant knows how to combine the range of various intelligences, not only practical and analytical but also emotional and social.

What remuneration?

The average remuneration of the Chartered Accountant in a company in 2020-2021 is 113 K ? per year (gross annual gross salary, including variable). 4 out of 5 chartered accountants have a variable portion.

Chartered Accountants in business are fully legitimate in their professional environment. This recognition stems in particular from their eight years of studies, which gives them very solid confidence in the exercise of their profession. The technical dimension contributes to supporting their legitimacy: their advice on accounting, tax, legal and more broadly business matters is often followed to the letter by managers.

For the moment, the Head of State cannot give more details because he explains that he is “in discussion with the social partners to see how to put these measures in place in practice”. A new meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 30, 2021 where Xavier Bettel “hopes that an agreement will be found”.

But the Prime Minister declares “to be optimistic. I think we will find a solution that will be supported by employers and employee representatives ?. If not, he assures us that ?it will be our responsibility to do so with or without consent?.

Sanctions envisaged

For companies that will not play the game, penalties are provided once the measure is mandatory.

Nevertheless, it is impossible to give more details at this time: ?We will first discuss this with the social partners. For the moment, sanctions are being considered in accordance with labor law and employees, ?explained Xavier Bettel.

The start of the presidential campaign has not yet left much room for economic issues. But the Medef hopes to put these subjects back at the heart of the debate, arguing that the French would now trust companies more than the state to improve the country’s situation.

This is what emerges from an opinion study unveiled on Tuesday by the employers’ union, which wants to make it a base on which to lean to weigh during the campaign. ?On the part of the French, there is recognition of the ability of companies to act, which has been reinforced by the crisis. The Doctolib example has shown that companies could be more efficient in carrying out operational missions poorly assumed by the State ?, estimates Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux, President of Medef.

Upcoming proposals

The employers’ organization must unveil at the beginning of January a “platform of proposals” to fuel the public debate during the electoral sequence. We should find certain recurring requests there, such as the continuation of the reduction in production taxes, but the organization wants to avoid “a catalog of measures above ground” to prefer “a putting into perspective of what seems necessary for France” , according to Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux.

The opinion study commissioned from Ifop should feed and above all consolidate this reflection. In view of this survey, Medef believes that it has every legitimacy to make its voice heard. It emerges in particular that 83% of French people have a good image of companies, a level up 5 points compared to 2020 and even 12 points compared to 2017. The imaginary class struggle would have passed according to this study, which indicates that 69% of French people consider that companies are a place of social cohesion. Among private sector employees, 67% say they are proud to belong to their company.

?It is the reflection of a spectacular change in the way the French look at companies. There is a clear break with the stereotypes of the past, and the political cleavages between right and left on the subject have been greatly reduced, ?judges Frédéric Dabi, Director General of Ifop. Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux even wants to see in it the proof that “the company has become a great national cause, an object of quasi-consensus”.

Jacobinism shaken up

This new confidence would even go so far as to shake up certain well-established traditions in Jacobin France. When asked who are the actors “on whom we count the most to improve things in society”, if citizens are cited first at 47%, companies (34%) now narrowly exceed the State ( 33%) to which the French are however used to turning in the face of the slightest problem.

So much so that the latter rely as much on companies as on the State when it comes to solving major public policy problems such as ecological transition or gender equality, this phenomenon being even more marked for young people. .

“There is a collapse of confidence in the state, and the Covid crisis has been a catalyst for this growing trend for years,” said Frédéric Dabi. “I thought that the crisis would have on the contrary been able to consolidate the situation of the State, it is the opposite which occurred”, underlines Geoffroy Roux of Bézieux.

Purchasing power expectations

It remains to be seen how companies can meet the aspirations of the French, whose concerns revolve around purchasing power rather than unemployment, as this study confirms. On this subject, Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux refers to the negotiations of branches in progress, and foresees a “very strong increase in the amounts of participation and profit-sharing in 2021” compared to a year 2020 it is true disaster, but also to a use intense ?Macron premium? for very small businesses.

“Confidence in companies also implies a responsibility, which sometimes goes beyond what business leaders are ready to hear,” warns the business leader. Paraphrasing Lionel Jospin helpless in the face of the closure of a Michelin factory at the end of the 1990s, the manager adds that “the company cannot do everything either”. And besides, the French do not give it a complete blank check either: the idea that the State gives more freedom to companies only receives the consent of 50% of the French.

Businesses Development Cocktail and Pixity, from La Roche-sur-Yon, asked, Thursday, November 25, 2021, to Rennes administrative court cancel the deliberation of the community council of Brest Metropolis (Finistère) which had ratified its local intercommunal advertising plan in 2019.

Specializing in digital signage, the two companies Stephane Frimaudeau – former right-wing activist known for having been elected in 2010 to the regional council of Pays de la Loire on the list of Jacques Auxiette (PS) – believe that this regulation amounts de facto to “prohibiting large format digital signage”, that is to say their “core business”.

“Fight against light pollution”

As a reminder, the contested deliberation of Brest Metropolis has set itself the goal of “combating light pollution”, in particular “in high-concentration commercial spaces”, such as “large peripheral commercial spaces” and “pedestrian areas in the city center of Brest in particular” .

?Digital lighting devices? were thus ?particularly targeted? among the contributions of the population during the consultation phase, she underlined.

The Paysages de France association, which had taken part, had, as such, campaigned for a ?ban? on advertising screens.

It was supported in this by the elected Europe Ecology – The Greens (EE-LV).

Their formats were therefore ultimately “limited” to reduce “landscape pollution” and “control energy consumption”.

Restrictions against which today the lawyer of the two companies of La Roche-sur-Yon is offended.

The regulation of La Roche-sur-Yon cited as an example

“The question is whether we can locally ban a market”, summarized Maître Grégoire Tertrais.

?If your jurisdiction validates this local potentate, this diktat, then it is the end of a core business perfectly framed by legislation! Brest Métropole must resume its copy with design offices that understand the issues: they are particularly heavy. ”

As a reminder, Stéphane Frimaudeau’s group indeed claims the title of ?France’s leading large-format outdoor digital advertising network? with more than 150 devices positioned in more than thirty departments.

The Vendée lawyer – who has “never pleaded so firmly” – indeed believes that the Brest metropolis must “justify” why it wants to be “stricter” than national regulations. He cited as an example the Local advertising regulations (RLP) of La Roche-sur-Yon, more conciliatory than that of Brest Métropole.

?It is obviously not a question of putting up signs everywhere and making our cities and our countryside like little Las Vegas! », Insisted Me Grégoire Tertrais.

“No national repercussion”

The lawyer from Brest Métropole, for her part, considered that Cocktail Développement and Pixity have in fact “missed the process of drawing up” the intercommunal advertising regulation which ended in 2019 and that they “are now trying to make up for it by trying to make people believe that these new rules affect a sector of activity ?.

“But your decision will have repercussions only on the territory of Brest Métropole”, she reframed. ?It would be an exaggeration to say that it will have an impact on their business. “

Brest Métropole lawyer

In any event, the contested regulation is not illegal according to her, insofar as it does not include “any general and absolute ban on digital signage” on Brest Métropole.

the Rennes administrative court, who has reserved his decision, will deliver his judgment in about a month.
